Bhubaneswar: Non resident Odias residing in Surat of Gujarat have come forward to extend their helping hand to the Fani victims back home in Odisha by sending relief materials including water bottles, biscuit packets, sugar and flattened rice.

According to sources, the relief materials were collected and sent via train to Bhubaneswar.

"We have sent 500 kg sugar, 1500 kg flattened rice, 15,000 bottles of mineral water, 15,000 biscuit packets for the cyclone Fani-affected people of Odisha. This is just a small attempt from our side to help Fani victims," said Mahendra, an Odia residing in Surat.

Earlier, non-resident Odias in Mumbai, who came forward to extend their helping hand to the Fani victims had alleged non-cooperation by the administration of Odisha Bhawan located in the city.

As per the allegations levelled, the authorities of Odisha Bhawan refused to provide space for storing relief materials following which the members of Prabasi Odia Samaj in Mumbai had to keep the materials in Kerala Bhawan.
