Ganjam: Nabin Swain, a resident of Gopalpur assembly constituency in Ganjam district who entertained BJP national president Amit Shah with a lunch when the latter visited Odisha in 2017, has joined BJD.

Swain, along with 300 activists, ward members and supporters of the saffron party joined the ruling-BJD on Thursday at a function in Hugulapata in presence of Gopalpur MLA Pradeep Panigrahi.

During the function, Swain said that Shah’s assurance of a pucca house to him has remained unfulfilled even after a year of his promise.

"There has been no improvement in my condition since Shah's visit. I was assured a house, but nothing has been provided to me yet. Inspired by the developmental activities carried out by CM Naveen, I decided to join the BJD," Swain stated.

“I thank CM Naveen for assuring me a work order for a house under the Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana and a ration card,” Swain added.

In July 4, 2017, Shah kicked off his three-day Odisha campaign with a lunch at the Swain’s house during his Ganjam visit.
