Mayurbhanj: As many as 56 students of a polytechnic college in Patpur area under Chitrada block of Mayurbhanj district have claimed that huge amount of loan has been borrowed in their names by the authorities of the institution.

As per reports, the students have lodged a complaint at Morada Police station alleging that the authorities borrowed a loan amount between Rs 80,000 and Rs 1 lakh per student.

After the matter came to the fore, tension erupted at the polytechnic college as the complainants were allegedly stopped from entering the campus.

"We came to know that a hefty amount was borrowed in our names at one of the branches of Vijaya Bank in Baripada. We can prove this as the bank statement is with us. They (college authorities) are not allowing us to enter the campus now," alleged a student.

However, the authorities have brushed aside the allegations. "Some students have lodged complaint against us but there have been no such irregularities as far as borrowing loan is concerned," said director of the polytechnic college, Kamalendu Mahant.
