Polling staff dies at despatch centre in Keonjhar

Keonjhar: A polling staff died in Anandapur area of Keonjhar district today after his health condition deteriorated a few hours before leaving for the polling booth.

The deceased identified as Abhaya Kumar Sethi, a staff of Champua High School, was engaged as the Fifth Polling Officer at booth no 149 of Ghasipura Assembly constituency.

While leaving for the poll booth, he fell ill at the despatch room. Following which, the medical team present at the spot attended Sethi and admitted him to Anandapur hospital where he was declared dead.

“Prior to disbursal process, the polling staff fell ill due to which he was taken to the hospital. Later, doctors declared him dead at the hospital. Reason behind his death will be known only after the post mortem,” said Rabindra Sahu, Sub collector, Anandapur.
