Jajpur: The statement of the 21-year-old woman from Dharmasala in Jajpur district who was 'rescued' in Cuttack on Thursday night after she was allegedly 'kidnapped' by a youth on December 5, will be recorded before a magistrate today.

Sources in the Jajpur police said the victim will first be taken for medical examination following which her statement will be recorded before a magistrate under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).

Police said she would explain in detail regarding her whereabouts in the 12 days after she was 'kidnapped' and the exact reason behind her kidnapping by one Shaikh Abdul Sehmat Khan alias Bobby of Choramuhan under Dharmasala area in the district.

The father of the woman in his petition before the Orissa High Court has alleged that on December 5 his daughter had gone to Vyasa Nagar Autonomous College at Jajpur Road to collect her migration certificate. When she did not return home till late in the evening, the family members started searching for her. They also tried to contact her over mobile phone but she could not be reached.

The father of the woman alleged that Bobby used to harass his daughter under the guise of being in love with her. He further accused that Bobby would threaten to kidnap and marry her after changing her religion.

The woman's father has also alleged that when he went to the Dharmasala police station to file an FIR, the officials refused to register his complaint. He then approached the Jajpur SP and District Collector seeking their intervention. However, they ignored his plea, he alleged.

Later on December 15, the father of the woman approached the Orissa High Court, seeking directions to the police stating that despite repeated complaints the police did not make any attempt to rescue his daughter.

It was only after an audio clip of a telephonic conversation between the woman and her mother went viral on social media platforms the Dharmasala police launched an investigation and rescued the girl from Shikharpur area of Cuttack on Thursday night. In the audio clip, the woman could be heard pleading for her freedom from the clutches of Bobby who was forcing her for 'nikah'.

Earlier on Thursday, police had arrested Bobby's father Abdul Hamid Kahan and forwarded him to the court. Bobby was arrested also on Thursday following the woman's rescue.
