Khurda: Police have arrested sixteen persons for allegedly ransacking Begunia Police Station in Khurda on Wednesday.

As per reports, three teams of police officials carried out raids in Bolgarh and Begunia area of the district to nab the accused. During the raid, the cops have also seized 12 vehicles.

Besides, the police have intensified patrolling and multiple raids are being carried out in the district to nab other accused involved in the incident.

Meanwhile, a notice has been issued to BJD MLA Prasant Jagdev in connection with the matter.

Demanding arrest of Jagdev for allegedly threatening a former sarpanch, some enraged locals ransacked the Begunia Police Station after barging into the premises forcibly yesterday.

As per allegations, the BJD MLA had threatened former sarpanch Nanda Kishore Swain. Jagdev had threatened to physically assault Swain following which the latter had lodged a complaint at the police station some days back. However, after no action was taken against the local BJD MLA, some locals resorted to vandalism demanding immediate arrest of the legislator.
