Berhampur: During a combing operation, police officials exchanged fire with a group of Maoists at Ganjam-Kandhamal border under Raikia police limits, informed Southern Range DIG Satyabrata Bhoi.

According to sources, the Maoist guerrillas started indiscriminate firing after encountering with a team of police.

Earlier on Tuesday, an exchange of fire had taken place between the security forces and CPI (Maoist) at Jumdang area in Malkangiri district on Odisha-Andhra Pradesh border.
