Bargarh: A businessman from the district on Monday filed a police complaint alleging that four cops from the Sadar police station looted him of Rs 4.5 lakh.

As per complaint lodged by the victim Nandalal, the policemen intercepted the bus he was travelling in near Bhatli Chhak in the district.

"I was travelling from Paikamal to Sambalpur when the four cops in a PCR van overtook the bus and asked the bus driver to stop. They asked the bus conductor if I was in the bus. Later, they walked up to me and started searching my bag," said Nandalal.

“They seized the money and took me along to the Sadar police station,” he alleged.

Nandalal further alleged that the officials asked him to leave saying that they would return the money later.

"However later, they refused to return me the money and I was forced to lodge an FIR against the four officers," said he.

SDPO of Bargarh, Suresh Nayak confirmed that a case has been registered.“The complainant has alleged that some officers nabbed him and took away Rs. 4.5 lakh from him. Investigation into the incident is on," said Nayak.
