Cuttack : Amidst the on-going controversy surrounding the lawyers’ agitation, the Orissa High Court deferred its hearing till tomorrow as Crime Branch failed to submit the charge sheet today.
As per reports, during the hearing held on November 9, the Crime Branch had asked for a six-week time for submission of the charge sheet, which the court had denied. The Orissa High Court had further directed the State investigating agency to submit the full-fledged charge sheet by November 12.
The high court has also directed the state government not to revoke the suspension order of the constable who was allegedly involved in the thrashing of a lawyer in Cuttack.
Meanwhile, the next course of action of the Orissa High Court Bar Association will be decided in the general body meeting scheduled to be held later this afternoon.
Reportedly, a meeting between police officials and representatives of the High Court Bar Association, chaired by DGP RP Sharma was held in the police-lawyer spat, remained inconclusive on Sunday.
According to sources, both the parties raised their demands in the meeting which was not fruitful.
DGP informed that both the sides presented their argument in a cordial environment.
“I personally appeal the lawyers to end their cease-work stir in the larger interest of the people and get back to work. Both the sides are trying to reach a mutually respectful, acceptable, and amicable solution to the issue,” DGP RP Sharma said after the meeting.

On the other hand, , the Havildar Constable Sepoy Mahasangh has demanded Crime Branch probe into the alleged thrashing of police personnel in the High Court premises on November 10.
“We had held discussions with the association on all issues in the meeting and the results are positive. The people of Odisha will know the results in a day or two,” said Santosh Satpathy, President of Havildar Constable Sepoy Mahasangh.
