Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has ordered to freeze the locker containing nearly 1.5 kg gold worth Rs 40 lakh belonging to Jyoti Ranjan Beura alias 'Golden Baba,' who was recently arrested on charges of fraud.

The investigating team is also planning to seize luxury vehicles including Mercedes, BMW cars and some bikes owned by him, informed sources. As per reports, Golden Baba will be sent to jail after the end of his remand period and if required, he will be again brought on remand, cops informed.

"He has been forwarded to court after his remand ended today. Investigation of the case is underway. The complainant has also been called for questioning. If required, the accused will be taken on remand again," Police Commissioner Satyajit Mohanty said.

Earlier, the Commissionerate Police had recommended the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch to investigate the financial fraud charges against the accused. The Chandraskeharpur police had arrested the conman on December 31 in connection with a fraud of Rs 12 crore.
