Bhubaneswar: BJP Odisha in-charge Arun Singh today lashed out at the BJD-led government accusing its leaders of being involved in corruption while announcing a state wide ‘Pol Khol’ campaign to expose dishonest leaders and ministers.

"We have decided to expedite our booth level programmes under which party workers will sensitise people of the ongoing corruption by the BJD leaders, ministers and  MLAs.Chargesheets will be filed to expose these dishonest leaders, " Singh stated at a presser here today after a tour to Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts where he met grassroot level workers and reviewed different governmental schemes.

“The Ama Gaon Ama Bikash programme of the state government is a shoddy scheme aimed to misappropriate funds meant for the poor. Corruption is at its all time high and the BJD leaders are working like brokers. Works are being given without inviting tenders. People's representatives,  Anganwadi workers, Sarpanch MLAs-none are being included in the developmental process,” Singh rued.

“All this is unfolding under the ambit of the chief minister himself which is shocking. It is murdering of the democracy,” he said.

Speaking to mediapersons, Singh said that in the last 19 years of the rule, the Naveen Patnaik led BJD government has been unable to provide employment to youths. Instead, it is trying to hoodwink them by engaging them in programmes like Yuva Vahini. Paying youths a meagre Rs 2000 for enrolling in the Yuva Vahini ahead of the elections is like paying them lollipops. BJD government is a lollipop government, he said.

Singh also criticised the move by the Odisha government which is all set to implement its own Food Security Act to cover nearly 34.44 lakh people left out under the National Food Security Act (NFSA).

"It is shameful that the BJD government has not been able to provide adequate food to 34 lakh people," Singh said.

The BJD, on the other hand, rubbished the  allegations levelled by Singh.

Reacting sharply to Singh’s comments, BJD spokesperson Sasmit Patra said people of the state are very much aware about how the Naveen Patnaik led government has expedited the development of Odisha in last four terms. Singh’s comments reveal jealousy of the saffron party.

"Before pointing fingers at the state government, Singh should look at the recognition and awards the BJP led Centre has been conferring us be it skill development or poverty alleviation or rural roads," he said.

People of Odisha and the country have witnessed the corruption of BJP and so their 'Pol Khol' is wide open before the general public.  "From  their promises to deposit  Rs 15 lakh to each account to  generation of 2 crore jobs every year to special state tag to Odisha, the union government has failed to accomplish none,"  said Patra.
