Bhubaneswar/Jagatsinghpur: A three-member team of Odisha Higher Education Department on Saturday began probe into the alleged irregularities during Plus Three admissions in SVM College in Jagatsinghpur district.

The team reportedly checked several files and documents related to admissions and also held discussions with some staff of the college, which is affiliated to Utkal University in Bhubaneswar.

After completion of the investigation, the committee will submit its report to the higher education department, said sources.

As per the allegations, the college had enrolled more students than the fixed limit in 2015-16. Later, it allegedly issued fake registration numbers to the students to appear for exam.

However, when some students went to Utkal University for migration certificates, officials there told them that the issued registration numbers were fake.

"The three-member committee examined all the details related to admissions during 2015-16. Further action will be taken based on the report of the committee," said principal of the college Arabind Chaini.
