Bhubaneswar: Reiterating his commitment for the people of Pipili, BJD candidate and son of late party leader Pradeep Maharathy, Rudra Pratap on Sunday said that he would toil hard to complete the unfinished works of his late father.

Soon after receiving the party ticket from chief minister Naveen Patnaik at his residence, Rudra said "I along with my family met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and sought his blessings. I am fully committed to complete the unfinished works of my late father."

Rudra's sister Pallavi, who accompanied him to the Naveen Nivas too echoed similar sentiments."My father had dedicated his entire life for the development of Pipili-Delang. We will also work in same tempo for the development of our area. Our family had been with the people of Pipili and will continue to be with them forever."

Meanwhile, Prativa Maharathy, Rudra's mother and wife of Late Pradeep Maharathy once again rubbished media reports on her displeasure over the party decision on fielding her son.

Prativa said "My blessing hands are on him always. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has also blessed him. "He (Rudra) will definitely emerge victorious. I hope he would do the works which late Maharathy had left behind,"

While denying media speculation that she was unhappy over Rudra's candidature, Prativa said that her family was united and ready to fight for Rudra.

Rudra is scheduled to file nomination papers for the by-election on March 30.
