The by-poll has been necessitated following the demise of BJD MLA Pradeep Maharathy. He had won the seat by a margin of over 15,000 votes in 2019.
BJD has chosen Pradeep Maharathy’s son Rudra Pratap as its official candidate.
Earlier on Friday, BJD announced that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will campaign for the party candidate Rudra Pratap Maharathy in virtual mode on April 12.
The BJP has pitted Ashrit Pattanaik as the party candidate for the seat which he had lost last time to Maharathy.
