Rourkela: A Class X student died of drowning while two others are still missing after they were swept away by strong water current while taking bath in Koel River in Rourkela on Sunday.

According to preliminary reports, the three were part of a group of students of an English medium school who had gone to Jhirpani for picnic. The trio was taking bath in the Koel River which is near the picnic spot when the water current swept them away at around 3 pm.

Soon after, the local residents along with Fire Services personnel launched a search operation and fished out the body of one boy. Later, body of another boy was also recovered. However, the third boy was still missing.

"About 20 personnel from three fire stations are engaged in the search operation. So far the bodies of two boys have been retrieved while further search is going on to trace the third one," said fire officer Kamal Gouda.
