Angul: Hinting at a major turnaround ahead of the 2019 elections, former Kendrapara MP Baijayant ‘Jay’ Panda today asserted that people in Odisha want change as they are fed up with hooliganism and violence.

While taking to reporters during his informal tea party (#Heijau) at Angul today, Panda further stated that people have started to realise the need for a change and are looking for alternatives.

Panda came down heavily on a series of attacks launched against several political leaders including former minister Damodar Rout and Kharavela Swain by the ruling-BJD activists.

“The way government is functioning and the way hooliganism and corruption has increased, people in the State have realised they want a change. Opposition leaders are being targeted and harassed and false cases were slapped against me. Such things are out in the open and there's a growing feeling among people for a new alternative," said Panda.

Panda further stated that people from all walks of life feel that they are being intentionally harassed and targeted.

“People in Angul have always supported me and I thank them for such unconditional love and affection,” Panda added.
