Rourkela: Amid a fast and furious resurgence of Corona cases in Odisha, a Covid positive patient reportedly succumbed in the Steel City due to alleged mismanagement raising questions on the preparations of the State government to tackle the second wave of the pandemic.

As per reports, a patient was admitted to the city-based Ispat General Hospital on April 7 but was later diagnosed with Covid-19 infection two days later.

Due to the absence of treatment & isolation facilities for Covid positives at the IGH, the patient was initially shifted to Rourkela Government Hospital. But for reasons still unknwon, the patient was subsequently transferred to 4 different hospitals due to referrals from one to the other.

Family members of the patient have alleged that they were not provided proper treatment at even a single hospital which ultimately claimed the life of their dear one.

Meanwhile, admitting the incident, Sundargarh CDMO Saroj Mishra said necessary action will be taken after due investigation. He has also assured that steps will be taken to ensure such incidents do not happen in the future.
