Patient dies after falling from hospital building

Dhenkanal: A youth undergoing treatment at the Dhenkanal District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) here died after falling from the fourth floor of the building in the wee hours today.

The patient has been identified as Sanjay Bhola of Haradapasi village under Sadar police station in the district.

According to reports, ailing Sanjay was admitted to the DHH yesterday for treatment.

"After a doctor administered him an injection in the evening on Saturday, he complained of ill health. Later, he went to the bathroom late night and by the time we reached him, he had already slipped from the window," said Sanjay's mother, Kholana Bhola.

Meanwhile, the hospital authorities informed that Sanjay committed suicide by jumping from the window.

"He was suffering from gastritis and melina and admitted to the male ward of the DHH yesterday. His health condition was stable at night," informed a doctor at the DHH, Pradyuta Behera, adding that Sanjay was loitering in the terrace and suddenly jumped out of the window.

On getting information, police rushed to the spot and started investigation. However, the exact cause behind the death of Sanjay is still unclear.
