Kendrapara: BJP national vice president Baijayant 'Jay' Panda today came down heavily on the Odisha government alleging that in the last 19 years of BJD rule, the State's development has taken a backseat and people have witnessed an unabated increase in crime.

Addressing a huge public gathering at Karilopatana in Patkura Assembly constituency of Kendrapara, Panda said, "PM Narendra Modi ji is able to secure our country but Odisha government has failed to provide safety to our women & children. Gang rape and murder cases are being reported at an increasing rate in the State. Crime rate has increased in Odisha more than the national rate."

He further said that women are still carried in sling and on shoulders due to ambulance service failure and lack of roads.  At a time when healthcare infrastructure in Odisha is in a shambles, Centre is providing crores of money under Ayushman Bharat Yojana, but the State government is refusing to accept fearing that credit will go to the Modi government, he added.

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who also attended the public meeting, took a jibe at CM Naveen Patnaik for asking - who is BJP's CM candidate for Odisha. "I thank Naveen babu for asking who our CM candidate is. With this, he made it clear that he thinks BJP can form the government in the State," said Pradhan.

A medical college in Kendrapara was Biju babu's dream, but Naveen didn't make it happen it in his 19 years of rule. BJP will set up medical college in Kendrapara, if voted to power in Odisha, promised Pradhan.

BJP's Patkura MLA candidate Bijoy Mohapatra also targeted Odisha government alleging rampant corruption and said that time has come to put an end to all forms of corruption in the State.
