Panic grips locals after elephant herd strays into village in Ganjam

Ganjam: Panic gripped locals after a herd of elephants from Lakhari forest strayed into Kankarada village in Ganjam.

According to sources, a herd of 5 elephants strayed into the village. The pachyderms are suspected to have entered the area in search of food.

Officials of Digapahandi Range are still trying to chase off the elephants.

Meanwhile, a person identified as Raghunath Mallick was injured by the herd and admitted to the community health centre.

Raghunath was attacked by an elephant while he had gathered with others to see the herd.

While everyone else started running away, Raghunath fell down and was subsequently attacked.
