Bhubaneswar: The Vigilance Department has registered cases against 6,817 government officials on several corruption charges, informed Odisha Chief Minister at the State Assembly on Monday.

While replying to a written question by MLA Sudhir Samal, Patnaik informed the House that the anti-corruption wing has registered cases against 895 Class –I officers till September 30, 2019.

Similarly, cases have been registered against 798 Group-B officers, 3,535 Group-C officials, 193 Group-D officials and 1396 other government employees in Odisha during the same period.

Patnaik further informed that all the cases are under trial stage in the court and the State government has appointed Prosecution Liaison officers at Vigilance Courts to expedite the corruption cases against the officials.

In a bid to ensure speedy trials, meeting of superintendents of police of various vigilance divisions with the special judges of vigilance courts is being held regularly, Patnaik added.
