Bhubaneswar: At least 15 tourists were injured in an attack by honey bees inside Nandankanan Zoological Park on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on Thursday.

As per reports, most of the tourists injured in the bee attack reportedly hail from West Bengal and other States.

Sources said the incident occurred after a beehive on a tree near an enclosure inside the zoo somehow got disturbed. The tourists started running after bees started attacking them in the afternoon.

Following the incident, guides and other security personnel rushed the spot and escorted the tourists to safety. The zoo authorities informed that adequate steps will be taken to ensure that such incidents do not recur.
