Bhubaneswar: Two students of the city-based Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) today filed a complaint at Siripur Police outpost alleging ragging by their seniors inside the college campus.

In their police complaint, two Plus-III first year students (Agriculture) alleged that they were ragged and thrashed by some seniors for not staying at the hostel of the institution and residing outside on their own.

Speaking to the media persons, one of the victims said, “For the last six months we have been harassed mentally by our seniors. After facing ragging we were staying outside the hostel. However, the seniors threatened us saying we have to stay in the hostel and undergo ragging. Today they caught hold of us and dragged us out and made us stand in the sun.”

Meanwhile, the OUAT authorities assured to take action against the accused students. Dean (Agriculture), OUAT, Kumbhakarna Rout said, “The incident will be taken up by our disciplinary committee and action will be taken against the accused.”
