Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: Odisha Television Limited will be conferred with the Antarashtriya Yoga Diwas Media Samman (AYDMS)-2019 in the category of Electronic Media -TV (Odia) for its valuable contribution in spreading the message of Yoga and commemoration of International Yoga Day.

The award will be presented by Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting, Prakash Javadekar, at National Media Centre in New Delhi on January 7, 2020. The Samman will comprise of a special medal/plaque/trophy and a citation.

The I&B Ministry had on June 8 last year decided that AYDMS will be conferred to media houses engaged in Print Media and Electronic Media (Television & Radio) and it was for the first time that the award was instituted to acknowledge the role and responsibility of media in propagating the outreach of Yoga in India and abroad. This is also being done to recognise the media contribution in spreading awareness about Yoga and for promotion and commemoration of International Yoga Day, celebrated every year on June 21. The contribution of media in popularising Yoga is assessed by a six-member jury.

It is pertinent to mention that OTV, apart from airing different yoga camps held in Odisha and outside, had organised special yoga sessions by roping in experts and yoga gurus for extensive broadcast on International Yoga Day.
