Bhubaneswar: Braving the early morning chill, thousands of people from the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack and other parts of the State participated in OTV Mini Marathon, organised on the occasion of World AIDS Day today.

The marathon is an initiative by OTV, the leading media house in Odisha, to raise awareness on HIV/AIDS which has emerged as a major challenge for the governments across the world.

As this year’s theme is 'Communities make the difference', many believe that it is the participation of citizens which can play a crucial role in combating the deadly HIV virus by launching extensive awareness campaigns.

The mini marathon, which was flagged off from OSAP 7th battalion campus, covered prominent locations including Janta Maidan,  Jaydev Vihar chhak, Acharya Vihar and Saink School. Thousands of people, eminent personalities and youngsters in large numbers participated in the grand event. Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi, OSAP 7th Battalion Commandant, OTV's co-founder Jagi Mangat Panda and others were present on the occasion.

“We have to prevent AIDS and take all steps to stay healthy. PM Narendra Modi has launched Fit India Movement and we need to create awareness for a healthy society,” said Sarangi.

Ollywood singers and actors enthralled audiences and participants with some mesmerising performances held on the occasion.
