Bhubaneswar: A young journalist working with OTV sustained critical injuries after three miscreants allegedly attacked him in an auto-rickshaw on Baramunda-Nayapalli road in the city on Saturday evening.

The incident took place at around 7 pm yesterday when Sarbeswar Mohapatra boarded an auto-rickshaw from Baramunda bus stand.

"Three persons were travelling in the auto rickshaw. They asked me my name and destination when I sat beside them. Later, they misbehaved with me and fed me some tablets forcefully.

They also tried to inject something into my body through a syringe. When resisted, they cut several parts of my body with a blade," said Mohapatra.

The journalist scuffled with them and got down from the vehicle. The miscreants snatched Rs 700 from him, he said.

On being informed, police rescued him and admitted to Capital Hospital.

The incident, which occurred in the heart of the city during evening hour, has sent a shock wave around the Capital City.
