OTV Impact: Police Launch Crackdown On Sex Trade, 2 Arrested In Odisha’s Balasore
Balasore: A day after OTV’s sting operation exposed how flesh trade is flourishing in several hotels in Balasore, police officials today launched a major crackdown and managed to nab two managers of a hotel at Talsari of Bhogarai block in the district. The owner and manager of a hotel located at Jaleswar have been arrested on the charges of allowing sex racket from their premises.
The crackdown assumes significance as hotels and guest houses in Balasore have turned into a safe haven for operating the prostituition racket. Mostly girls and women from neighbouring West Bengal are being allegedly forced into the flesh trade.
After an exclusive report telecast by OTV yesterday, concerns were expressed over rampant flesh trade in several areas of Balasore district which was thriving right under the nose of police and district administration who seemed only a mute spectator to such illegal activities.
A video from Jaleswar station bazaar area, which is in possession of OTV, showed how a pimp was trying to strike a deal with a customer by introducing him to a sex worker. The video shed light on the ground zero reality of the flesh trade which was operating from several hotels in the district.
