Keonjhar: 2 Days after OTV aired the plight of school students and residents of Haladihi village under Banspal block in Keonjhar district, the local administration finally reached the remote village to extend a helping hand.

The Block Development Officer (BDO) of Banspal block, Ugrasen Oram visited the spot on Monday and realising the need to construct a bridge over Malada River as early as possible, he assured that the district collector will soon be apprised about the requirements of the villagers.

The BDO even assured an all-weather road from Bhejidihi to Dhibarasahi village to facilitate communication in the area.

Ugrasen said, “I came here after a report was telecast few days ago and realised that the area needs a bridge and a road. I will discuss this with the higher authorities and ensure that the area gets proper connectivity as soon as possible.”

“No government official has ever come to our village. This time the BDO has come and assured to build a bridge and a road here,” expressed Lalita Telkoi, a local.

Notably, OTV had telecast report on the plight of the villagers two days back. Without a bridge, they were forced to cross the Malada River with the help of a rope. The school students too were seen risking their lives to attend school.
