Angul: Within hours after a report was telecast on OTV, the Angul district administration extended support to the family of the two-month-old baby who is suffering from hydrocephalus (a brain related disease) condition.

While the local administrative officials handed over a cheque worth Rs 10,000 to the family, the district collector has ordered the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) to admit the child to SCB Medical College & Hospital in Cuttack.

"After requests, we have received Rs 10,000 to take our baby to hospital in Cuttack," said Rupa Das, mother of the baby.

The residents of Hakimpara area in Angul district, Basudev Mishra and Rupa Das had welcomed their baby girl Vaishnavi two months ago and later they found out about her condition.

Basudev works as a daily-wage labourer at a private company. The family had requested the government to lend a helping hand to facilitate their daughter's treatment.
