Bhubaneswar: Hours, after he was arrested by the Crime Branch’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) in connection with the alleged land issue in Sarua, Manoranjan Sarangi, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Odisha Television Limited, was remanded to two-days custody of the probe agency by a court late on Sunday.
EOW sources informed that the probe agency had pleaded before the court for five-day custodial remand of the CFO in the case, however, the court granted custody for two days, sources added.
Sarangi will now be produced before the court on November 3, EOW sources said.
Earlier, Sarangi was picked up by a team of Crime Branch officials from his residence in Bhubaneswar in the wee hours on Sunday. Sarangi, who is diabetic and suffers from high blood pressure, was woken from his sleep and was even denied medicines and food for several hours after the police took him away.
Top political leaders in the State had condemned such vindictive action by police allegedly at the behest of the Odisha government.
