Youth held for raping girl

Berhampur: A 22-year-old youth was arrested for allegedly raping a four-year-old girl at Muzzagarh, about 100-km from here in Ganjam district's Bhanjanagar police station, police said today.

The accused, Mithun Gouda, a neighbour of the victim, allegedly committed the crime in his house on Friday evening when there was no one in the home, said inspector-in charge, Bhanjanagar police station AK Sahu.

The unemployed youth had allegedly lured the girl for playing in the house, he said.

The incident came to light when the victim narrated the incident after returning home following which her mother disclosed the matter to public at night.

The accused was arrested yesterday and a medical test was conducted on him as well as the victim, police said.
