Jagatsinghpur: A woman and her four-year old daughter were killed in a fire mishap at Dhanura Belari village under Balikuda police limits in the district on Sunday morning.
The deceased have been identified as Sandhya Sethi (mother) and Priyanka Sethi (daughter).

According to sources, the girl sustained 85 per cent burn injuries in the accident. She was rushed to SCB medical college and hospital in Cuttack where she succumbed to her injuries, the sources added.

The exact reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained.

Meanwhile mother of Sandhya, Laxmipriya Sethi has alleged family fight as the reason behind the death of the duo and termed it as murder.

“My daughter called me last night and said she had a war of words with her sister-in-law as spent Rs 600. She was always tortured by her sister-in-law. So I think they have murdered my daughter and grand-daughter,” Laxmipriya alleged.

When contacted the investigating police officer Rabindranath Malla, he said “While the mother died at district headquarters hospital while undergoing treatment, her daughter, who was shifted to SCB medical college and hospital succumbed to her injuries there.”

“The family members of the deceased have alleged that, the husband of Sandhya has mental disorder and they often have tussle between them. They are alleging family fight as the reason behind the death of the duo. We are investigating into the matter and all will be clear after completion of the investigation,” Malla added.
