Bhubaneswar: A woman has complained to the the Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) that her husband has been molesting women employees of his office and blackmailing them with footage taken with a hidden camera.

The woman, second wife of a Sambalpur-based businessman, also alleged that her husband has been threatening her with elimination ever since she confronted him over this practice of his, OHRC sources said here on Saturday.

She lodged the complaint with the Director General of Police on Thursday and moved the OHRC on Friday.

The woman claimed that her husband planted spy cameras to record the molestations of the employees and later used the video footage to blackmail them, the sources said.

The husband had worked in the Indian Army, but left the job in 2003 and started a business in the mining sector, the woman claimed in her complaint.

The woman, who hails from Jamnagar in Gujarat, had married the businessman in 2003 and they have a son. This is the second marriage of the woman who runs a school.

Sambalpur SP Prateek Mohanty said, "A case has been registered following her complaint with the police. However, she had made an allegation against her husband in 2012 accusing him of dowry torture. But the complaint turned out to be false after investigation."

The police were verifying the authenticity of the CDs submitted by her along with the complaint.

Rituparna Mohanty, a social activist helping the woman in this case, alleged that she has been tortured and had fled to her parents' place during a trip to Bhubaneswar in 2011.
