Bhubaneswar: Director General of Police, KB Singh on Thursday said winning people’s trust and providing better services would be the top priority of the Odisha Police.

“In order to achieve the goal, the State Police will have a complete overhaul of its training module,” Singh told media persons after inaugurating the 59th Senior Police Officer’s meet at the State Police Headquarters here.

He said the meeting had a threadbare discussion on major issues like terrorism, Maoism, law and order, crime control mechanism, cyber crime, social media, tender fixing and traffic problems.

Referring to the rise in Maoist activities in some parts of Mayurbhanj and Angul districts, the DGP said a strategy will be formulated to counter the left wing extremism in these two districts.

“This is an ongoing process. We have a well laid roadmap and we are implementing it,” he added.

The second session of the conference would be held at the commissionerate police headquarters in Bhubaneswar in which will be attended by all senior IPS officers of the State Headquarters, Range IGs and DIGs, district SPs, Intelligence wing, Crime Branch, commandants of Odisha Armed Police Force and Jail Superintendents.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik would grace the concluding session of the conference.

Issues on expeditious and successful investigation into crime against women and punishment to the guilty, review of new law on crime against women, human rights and protection of minority communities, improvement of public services in police stations and successful implementation of coastal and National Highway policing would be deliberated.
