Balasore/ Bhubaneswar: Soro police on Tuesday deferred the polygraph test of prime suspects in the death case of television actor Ranjt Pattnaik alias Raja till tomorrow, following a technical snag.

Police sources said the test on actress Pralipta Priyadarshini Samal alias Jessy, driver Dhaneswar and event coordinator Pralay could not be conducted as the system developed a technical glitch.

“We will conduct the test tomorrow,” an official said.

According to sources, the trio appeared before the State forensic laboratory in the morning today to undergo a lie detection test. Even though they waited for about five hours, the test could not be conducted.

“We have been told to appear before the police tomorrow as the test could not be performed today,” Jessy told reporters.

On Saturday, a six-member team of Soro police had interrogated the trio in connection with the death of Raja. Later, they were released on PR bond after agreeing to provide full cooperation in the investigation.

The investigating team, led by Soro police station IIC Parsuram Sahu, had also taken them to the accident spot to re-enact the whole episode.

On the fateful night of February 7, Raja was returning with the trio after performing a stage show when the incident took place. Though Jessy’s co-actor Tushar was supposed to attend the event, he could not join. The organisers had expressed displeasure over it and blamed Raja for it.

Raja had a heated argument with Jessy over the matter and later got down from the car to relieve himself. Minutes later, the car driver heard a scream under the bridge nearby. He went down only to find Raja seriously wounded.

Initially, Raja was rushed to Bhadrak district headquarters hospital and was later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead.
