Trucks to go off roads from tomorrow

The Odisha Truck Owners’ Association has called for an indefinite strike from tomorrow. Over 1 lakh trucks will join the stir as the government has failed to meet the proposed demands of the truckers.

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Truck Owners’ Association has called for an indefinite strike from tomorrow. Over 1 lakh trucks will join the stir as the government has failed to meet the proposed demands of the truckers.

It was informed by the association secretary after meeting State transport and commerce minister Subrat Tarai.

The Association on December 30 threatened to launch the stir from January 15 if its 7-point charter of demands including fare hike were not met by government.

A delegation of the Association had put forth its demand earlier before the government after meeting the transport and commerce minister. The truckers had demanded implementation of the report of the technical committee on fare hike with immediate effect.
