Jharsuguda: In a daring broad daylight heist, two unidentified miscreants looted cash worth Rs 2.99 lakh from a local trader inside a bank premises here today.

Following information, the Town police rushed to the spot and launched a manhunt to nab the two miscreants.

Talking to the media persons, Shyam Sundar Sakunia, owner of Shyam Medical Store in the town, said he had come to the Allahabad Bank’s Jharsuguda main branch to deposit cash worth Rs 2,99,500 in his account.

“After I arrived at the bank in my Scooty, I took my cash bag from the dickey and was on the way to the first floor. I had climbed three stairs when an unidentified youth with his face covered with a red handkerchief, suddenly came from behind and tried to pull out the cash bag from my hand. But as I resisted him, he pushed me. After I fell down on the stair, he pulled the cash bag from me and ran towards his associate who was waiting on his Pulsar bike wearing a helmet. Later they fled the area,” he informed.

Till reports last came in, there was no trace of the looters.
