Puri: The technical team of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has started repair work of the Jagamohan of the Srimandir here.

As per the plans, the team inspected the column at the north-west corner of store room and plaster near Beheran dwara.

A team from Dhanbad along with the temple’s technical committee, ASI experts and works department officials are supervising the repair work.

Srimandir Technical Committee chairperson Gopal Chandra Mitra said, “Working platform will be put up so that servitors can move beneath it. Once that will be placed then the inspection work can be done.”

Earlier, Dr Narayan Chandra Pal, member, Technical Committee, had said the primary focus would be on stabilising the two capital stones on the north-west side of the Jagmohan through pinning, anchoring, grouting, and carbon wrapping.
He said the ASI has formed five teams for the repair work.

“Though it will be tough for us to complete the repair work within such a short time, we will try our best to complete all critical repair work before the Snana Purnima,” he added.
