Cuttack: Students of three government medical colleges on Thursday filed a Misc case in the Orissa High Court appealing for a halt to the process of admission and counseling of students of the Jaring-based Sardar Rajas Medical College.

The students of MKCG, VIMSAR medical colleges and Dental College of SCB filed the Misc case in the HC as per the directive ofthe Supreme Court.

While declining to stay the admission process of students of Sardar Rajas college during its hearing of a special leave petition (SLP) yesterday, the SC advised the petitioners to appeal in the HC.

The SC has posted the next hearing on the petition to January 5.

The state government had initiated the process of relocating 124 students of the Jaring based medical college in Kalahandi as per an order of the HC.The process will continue for two days.

Out of the 124 students of the college, 55 would be relocated in MKCG Medical College and Hospital while another 54 will be absorbed in VIMSAR. The remaining 15 students would be admitted in three private medical colleges – Hi Tech Medical College, KIMS and Institute of Medical Sciences and Sum Hospital in Bhubaneswar.

The admission will take place on December 22 and 23 on the basis of ranking of the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT).
