Ravenshaw University to be a sports hub soon

Cuttack: Going by the pace of construction work taken up by Ravenshaw University authorities here, the premier educational institution in the millennium city is soon going to be recognised as a sports hub. That’s the dream the authorities have.

“Construction work for the Sports Complex has started in November and we hope it will be completed in time. The Complex will have facilities like multi-purpose gymnasium and a yoga training centre,” Ravenshaw university Registrar Kishore Das said.

Rs 1.60 crore has been sanctioned by the University Grants Commission (UGC) for the project which aims to provide students a healthy life, the official informed.

Besides, a Rs 6 crore Multi-purpose Indoor Hall has been sanctioned by the Ministry of HRD and it will come up near the Sports Complex. Tenders have been invited for the project and construction work will begin soon, the registrar said.

“We are delighted that the students will get maximum benefit from the projects. Very soon, we will impart training on yoga in the Complex,” he stated.

In different phases, the institution has taken up projects worth Rs 10 crore for sports and allied activities, Das mentioned.
