Bhubaneswar: Union Home minister Rajnath Singh will arrive in Odisha on a one-day visit today. Singh will visit Koraput and Malkangiri districts to review anti-Maoist operations in these Naxal-infested areas.

After his arrival at a BSF camp in Koraput, the Home minister will participate in a high-level meeting with officials. He will discuss anti-Maoist operations with the Dirrector General of Police (DGP), Home Secretary, IG Intelligence, IG operations, and SPs of Koraput and Malkangiri districts.

Earlier yesterday, the DGP, Home Secretary and other senior officials visited Koraput and took stock of the arrangements ahead of Singh’s visit.

After his meeting in Koraput, Singh is scheduled to visit Bhubaneswar to meet chief minister Naveen Patnaik.

Yesterday, the Union Home Minister reviewed the Left Wing Extremism (LWE) scenario in Andhra Pradesh at a meeting with senior officials in Vishakhapatnam. Addressing the meeting, the Union Home Minister said that the LWE situation had shown remarakable improvement in the recent months throughout the country with the number of LWE incidents coming down.

Singh underlined the importance of Inter-State cooperation of Andhra Pradesh with the neighbouring states.
