Cuttack: A woman from Chhattisgarh was allegedly gang-raped by a group of unidentified men near Cuttack station on Friday night. The victim lodged a complaint in this regard at Mahila police station in the next day following which police started investigation.

The 25-year old victim, identified as a resident of Gudiali area of Raipur, left home for Puri following a family dispute. She got down from the train on Friday at Cuttack station after visiting Puri. A group of men, taking advantage of her helplessness, took her to a dark place on the same night and physically abused her. Later, they left her at an abandoned place.

According to police, she cannot narrate the ordeal properly as she is now mentally unstable. Police sent her to SCB medical college and hospital for medical examination. Till the latest report, police did not get any clue regarding the whereabouts of the accused. The police are likely to interrogate the local people residing near the station.

However, the medical examination of the victim may not be carried out on Sunday due to holiday, sources said. The victim is now in the police custody.
