Cuttack: The SDJM court on Tuesday granted the commissionerate police to take dreaded criminal Dhalsamant brothers on a fresh seven-day remand.

The court, however, didn’t accept the police plea to produce the gangster siblings in handcuffs.

Police sources said they wanted the fresh remand to further interrogate the D-brothers in connection with the murder case of Om Prakash Swain alias Om. Om was an aide of the D-brothers and was working as a sharpshooter for them, police said.

Meanwhile, counsel for the D-brothers alleged that the police didn’t allow his clients to go for a medical check up.

“In today’s application, the police said one accused was taken to Athgarh to re-enact the murder episode. But surprisingly, they didn’t tell about the other. Besides, we had applied for their medical examination within 48 hours, but it didn’t happen. By doing this, the police has defied the SC rule,” D-brothers’ counsel said.
