Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi would visit Odisha again on February 21.

Announcing this at a press briefing here on Sunday, BJP Odisha Prabhari Arun Singh said the Prime Minister would attend Virat Kisan Sammelan organised by his party at Bargarh on February 21.

“Over thousands of farmers from across Odisha would attend the Samavesh and thank the Prime Minister. During the Samavesh, the Prime Minister would interact with the farmers and listen to their grievances”, he said.

Stating that Modi would attend Virat Kisan Sammelan in Karnataka on February 27 and in Uttar Pradesh on February 28, Singh said the BJP leaders had requested the Prime Minister to come to Odisha as the farmers in this state need him most.

“The Prime Minister accepted the request to attend the Sammelan,” he pointed out.

Meanwhile, BJD spokesperson Shashi Bhusan Behera said, “Though the Prime Minister’s tour to the State to show sympathy to the farmers is a delayed action, we welcome the move. When the moment when the farmers were suffering a lot, the Prime Minister would have come during that time.”

Behera further stated, “It is to be seen what special packages the prime minister would announce for the drought-hit areas of the State.”

The ruling party had organised a farmers’ rally at Sohela in Bargarh on November 19 where the Chief Minister had announced sops for the farmers of the State.

As per the schedule, Modi will arrive at the state capital here on a two-day visit to Odisha on February 7.

During his visit, he will dedicate the oil refinery at Paradip to the nation, inaugurate a new building of National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) near Jatni in Khurda. He will also visit Shri Jagannath Temple at Puri for the darshan of the Lords.
