Bhubaneswar: The National Food Security Act will be implemented in Odisha from September this year, Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare minister Sanjay Das Burma said in the State Assembly today.

Replying questions from both ruling and opposition members, the minister said the much-needed Act has been delayed due to some issues came in the process of identifying beneficiaries.

The Act, which emphasises on agricultural production, marketing and equitable distribution of food grains, is aimed at including 32,641,800 crore of beneficiaries across the State.

Das Burma also assured the House that a comprehensive database will be prepared to ensure an error-free implementation of the Act in the State.
