Bhubaneswar: Odisha Cabinet on Friday approved a proposal for the formation of Lokayukta in the state and decided to bring a Bill regarding this within a period of one month. This was announced by the state's chief minister Naveen Patnaik after the Cabinet meeting at State Secretariat here.

"The state government is committed for absolute transparency and probity in public life," Patnaik said.

The chief minister as well as the council of Ministers will also be under the purview of the proposed State Act, he added.

"In view of our government's commitment to fight corruption and bring in transparency in public life, the state government will get this legislation enacted within a period of one month, even though the Central Act provides for a window period of one year for implementation," said the chief minister.

While mentioning about Special Courts Act and Public Service Delivery Act as the success of his government the chief minister said, "Our state government has always taken tough, effective and exemplary steps in tackling corruption, improving transparency and delivery of public services.”
