Bhubaneswar: The Plus Two students of Odisha will get the new books with the changed syllabuses by May this year.

This was informed by Gitika Patnaik, Director, Odisha State Bureau of Text Book Preparation and Production, here on Sunday.

“We have received the approved syllabus recommended by the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) and started the work for publication of books. We have called up the concerned authors of the concerned subjects to check out for corrections, additions and deletions of any part of their manuscripts. We have also invited well-known educationists from Odisha and neighbouring states and organised workshops on preparation of new books,” Patnaik said.

She, however, said that considering the fact that over three lakh students take admission in the Plus Two streams in Odisha every year, it will be a challenge for the Bureau to provide them with the new books in time.

“We have asked the Text Book Bureau for publication of new Plus Two text books prepared on the pattern of the syllabuses of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). I hope the Bureau would provide the books to the students by May this year,” Higher Education minister Pradip Panigrahi told the media.

He said the new syllabuses have been prepared by CHSE to enable the students of Odisha to succeed in the all India Engineering and Medical entrance examinations.

Under the new syllabuses, there will be 70 percent objective and 30 percent subjective questions, he added.

In the first phase of the publication, the minister unveiled a new book on Fashion Technology on Sunday.
