Cuttack: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik today inaugurated a bridge on river Mahanadi at Jatamundia connecting Athgarh and Banki built at a cost of Rs 62.49 crores.

Cuttack MP Bhartruhari Mohatab, Banki MLA Prabhat Tripathy and Athgarh legislator Ranendra Pratap Swain were present on the occasion.

Before the CM ‘s visit, police had taken some Congress and BJP leaders into preventive custody to ward off any possible untoward situation as the BJP had earlier opposed the Banki MLA’s visit to the bridge site.

Later, Patnaik inaugurated the Lineage health centre and laid foundation of Lineage Club at Acharya Harihar Regional Cancer Institute in Cuttack. Meanwhile, he gave away Myoelectric controlled prosthetic hand to Khirod Mishra, a patient from Bolangir.

The CM also dedicated the lecturer’s theatre and training hall at Bhubanananda Odisha School of Engineering (BOSE). A 250-bed hostel for the students belonging to other backward classes (OBCs) and 400-bed hostel SC/ST girls of Ravenshaw university were also inaugurated.

The foundation stone was also laid for a seven-storey building of the Shishu Bhawan.
