Murder case lodged against former Congress MLA

Pipili: A complaint has been lodged against former Congress MLA Yudhistir Samantray in connection with the murder of Pipili Panchayat Samiti member Sushant Mishra. The complaint has been lodged by Sushant’s mother Ritanjali Mishra in Pipili Police Station. Apart from Samantray, 18 others have been named in the FIR lodged by the mother of the deceased.

According to sources, the incident occurred yesterday evening when Sushant, along with a relative, was carrying his mother to a hospital in Bhubaneswar for treatment. The trio was stopped by some miscreants near KEC, who dragged Sushant along to the nearby forest even as his mother requested them to spare her son. They also threatened his relative with a mouser. Then they attacked Sushant with clubs and weapons and fled the spot assuming him to be dead. Later, police was called and Sushant was transferred to a hospital in Bhubaneswar and then to Cuttack where he breathed his last, added sources.

As per sources, Sushant’s mother has alleged that Samantray had attacked Sushant over some dispute earlier too.

Meanwhile, after the filing of complaints, palpable tension prevailed in the area. Fourteen platoons of police force have been deployed to avoid any untoward incident.
