Cuttack: The Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha, which conducts the State Matriculation Examination, is determined to completely curb malpractice menace by students while writing their papers.

On the first day of the examination-2015 today, various squads deployed at different levels booked nearly 300 students for adopting unfair means and copying during the examination.

"Till late afternoon, we have received reports from various circles that a total of 299 students were booked for malpractice," said BSE president D. P. Nanda adding the final figure would be arrived at after receiving the details.

Nanda, however, claimed that the examination went off smoothly on the first day without any major hiccup received from anywhere.

Over six lakh students from four streams (regular, ex-regular, new, ex-regular-old and Madhyama) are appearing the fortnight-long matriculation examination this year in nearly 3000 centres across the State.
